Reading: Philippians 2:19-30 .
"Receive him [Epaphroditus], then, in the Lord with all joy, and hold in esteem those like him" Philippians 2:29
Just before the kick initial Super Bowl XLIII [final football championship], Kurt Warner, Cardinals of Arizona, received the Walter Payton Man of the Year; tribute given to the player with the most excellent work in the field of play and the best community service out of it. "I feel humbled that the Lord has given me an amazing life that impacts others," said Warner, a devoted believer in Christ. "Of all the awards given to athletes from the NFL [National Football League], [this] is notable for what it represents', a commitment to the dedication and sacrifice for others.
pay tribute to those who serve is not new. Paul referred to this when he reminded the Philippians that they honor those who were enshrined service to God. He spoke of Epaphroditus, a friend of theirs, who had been near death (Philippians 2:30 ) due to their efforts to serve others, even the people of Philippi, in the name of Christ. What should they do? The apostle said, "Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold in esteem those like him" (v. 29 ). No doubt thinking of those who sacrifice to serve the Savior, these people are worthy of our respect and esteem.
Why not find ways to show gratitude to those who have served you spiritually? Give them the honor they deserve.
