Reading: Psalm 46 .
"The Lord will shelter the poor, a refuge in times of trouble" Psalm 9:9
Chuck When my brother was a missionary in Mali, West Africa, had an accident. A man crossed the road in front of his motorcycle. As a result of shock, my brother and the bike was dragged along the ground about 60 meters. Soon after regaining consciousness in hospital, the doctor told Chuck that he had "been very lucky." He smiled and replied: "God is good."
Later, he began to think about what had happened that day. The man that hit was not significant or lasting injury, and he also recovered. But what would have happened if one of them died? Then, he thought God would be equally good.
When we experience a tragedy, perhaps we doubt the goodness of God. "The Lord is always good? Yes it is. He does not promise that bad things will never happen, but says it is "our refuge and strength "(Psalm 46:1 ). not sure we ever cross harrowing circumstances, but promises it will not be alone ( 23:4).
God is good, no matter the suffering we are experiencing. Although we do not understand, we can say with Habakkuk: "Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation" (3:18 ) __ CHK
Reflection: God tests our faith to trust in His faithfulness.
