Reading: Romans 8:12-17 .

"Having predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ" Ephesians 1:5

In Forever Young: My Friendship with John F. Kennedy, Jr. [Forever Young: My Friendship with John F. Kennedy, Jr.], Billy Noonan recounts the experiences with the son of President Kennedy.

There recounts that in 1980, John Jr. and he was invited to visit the U.S. aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy. While roaming the ship inadvertently entered the guide in a restricted area. When an officer stopped them, the guide pointed to John and said: "This ship is his father." Immediately, at attention, saluted the young officer. Is that, when a U.S. Navy ship is put a name in honor of someone, that person is considered its owner. So, being the son of one whose name he bore the ship, John Jr. had special privileges.

This illustrates a vital spiritual principle. To be adopted into God's family, who have been saved, we enjoy the position of children. Paul wrote that, as believers, we are "predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 1:5 ). Under this condition, we have special privileges that belong to the descendants of the King of kings.

In the challenging journey of life, we feel anger at know that our "Abba, Father" (Romans 8:15 ) is the owner of the ship and shared everything with us. Praise God: We are heirs with Christ!

Reflection: The believer's inheritance is guaranteed forever!

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 23-25. Mark 14:1-26 .
