SLS Superdeporte

, Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS

The AMG Mercedes-Benz SLS is a rear-drive two-seater coupe that is available for € 196,000 (excluding transport). For English market, transportation to the dealer, inside a locked truck in which only travels a unit costs approximately between 3,000 and 5,000 € depending on destination. The first units were delivered in April 2010.

is more expensive than models with similar characteristics as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 or the Bentley Continental GT, but more affordable than the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti F1 and Porsche 911 GT2 (comparative tab).

Mercedes-Benz has presented a SLS with the body painted "Desert Gold AMG" (gallery) at the Motor Show Dubai (15-20 December 2009). In the event that there is high demand, the "AMG Desert Gold" will be available as an option along with the other two specific colors "AMG PERFORMANCE STUDIO" ("AMG Monza Grey Great" and "Grey Alanite AMG Designo Magno). The "AMG PERFORMANCE STUDIO" AMG is a department that offers personalized items for different models of Mercedes-Benz.

The body and chassis of the SLS, the latter of monocoque, are made of aluminum. Its doors are hinged on the ceiling and open from the bottom up (image), in a configuration that Mercedes-Benz called "gull wings."

is the first sports car developed entirely by AMG, a specialist in sports preparations of different models of Mercedes-Benz.

wears a aspirated V8 petrol engine 571 hp 6.2-liter. Which is derived from the Mercedes-Benz have some prepared by AMG, SL 63 AMG and the (525 hp), the E 63 AMG (514 hp), the ML 63 AMG (510 hp), the CLK 63 AMG (481 hp) the C 63 AMG (467 hp).

The SLS reaches 317 km / h speed limit (it is self-limited) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.8 s. Its top speed is not very high for the power that gives the engine. Models such as the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti F1 (540 hp), the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 (560 hp) or the Porsche 911 GT2 (530 hp) have a top speed slightly less powerful engine (comparative tab).

Weighs 1,695 kg more than the Lamborghini and Porsche, but clearly less than the Ferrari. The weight does not affect the top speed but acceleration. Consumes 13.2 l/100 km, less than the Gallardo LP560-4 and the 612 Scaglietti F1, even more than the Porsche 911 GT2 (comparative tab).

The V8 engine is coupled to a gearbox "AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7" double-clutch, similar to the "DSG" or Volkswagen the "PDK" Porsche. It has seven speeds, four operating modes ("Controlled Efficiency", "Sport", "S +" and "Manual") and a feature called "Start Race" which is used to exit from standstill to full throttle. In manual mode there are seven LEDs (white, yellow and red) to warn the driver of the need to change gear (picture).

Bodywork and interior

The doors open to an angle of 70 degrees. If opened in the highest position, the distance between its upper end and the ground is 1.50 m. Mercedes-Benz claims that require less space to open than conventional doors. Opening the outer knob is located in a central position and the bottom of the door (image).

Take a spoiler in the rear of the bodywork which automatically deploys from 120 km / h to increase stability.

There is an inscription with the text "6.3", which refers to the displacement of the engine on the side of the body, between the two decorative moldings inlets to the motor (picture).

The interior is covered with leather, metal and, optionally, carbon fiber (center console and other parts of the dashboard). Mercedes-Benz says the carrier has been developed taking as inspiration the world of aviation. Leather upholstery can be five colors: black, red, sand, porcelain and brown.

homage to the Mercedes-Benz models in the 60 and 70, the outputs of the HVAC system are round and have the air flow regulators in a cross (picture).

has leather seats, sporty design with adjustment electrical memory in three different positions and heating. They can be black, red, sand, or porcelain. The backs are made of magnesium to weigh as little as possible. The steering wheel is flat on the bottom and has cams for raising and lowering gear. It also has several buttons from which you can handle the sound system, browser and phone. The pedals are metal with rubber inserts.

The instrument has two major areas of silver with red needles. The speedometer is graduated to 360 km / h, although the car has a top speed electronically limited to 317 km / h.

between the two areas lies a row of seven LEDs to indicate the optimal time to switch gears and trip computer screen, which informs the consumer, autonomy or the temperature of transmission oil and has a timer for time keeping circuit (image).

The browser, the air conditioning system and other elements are managed through a command ('COMAND APS) located between the seats, just behind the shifter (image). The information is displayed by a 7''screen located between the two central air vents on the console. The AMG logo is present on the back of the seats, floor mats and instrument panel.

The glove has a capacity of 3.7 l. There is a space sunglass holder on the passenger area and a storage holes in the center armrest and behind the seatbacks. Among these is a small bag that can also save a small object. The trunk has a capacity of 176 l.

equipment and other data

The SLS has eight standard airbags (the usual plus one for the driver and front passenger knee), dual-xenon headlights with LED daylight lights, air conditioning two areas ("THERMO-TRONIC ') and cruise control.

series is also the entry system and keyless start ("KEYLESS-GO '), the electric parking brake, parking sensors (" PARKTRONIC "), rear view camera, automatic ignition lights and wipers and pressure sensors in tires, among other elements (data equipment).

The equipment can be complemented by a sound developed by Bang & Olufsen, a six-DVD entertainment system, ceramic brakes developed by AMG, a package of several carbon fiber parts for both the interior and the exterior (mirrors and hood) or different leather upholstery.

The SLS is based on the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL that was on sale between 1954 and 1963 (image). He was known as "gull wings" with the way the doors opened, very similar to that of SLS. This began to occur when stopped producing the SLR Roadster.

What is a vinyl record?

Vinyl records ( the good old days ... musicals), is said to be exactly 44 years the German company Deutsche Grammophon introduced the first full-length album (Long Play ) and was in German music fair in Düsseldorf.

vinyl discs also called vinyl record , LP, is a reproduction of sound format based on mechanical recording analog (for the years 60).

Although today, and although it may be regarded by many as an outdated article, the truth is that it remains one of the audio formats used by DJs and music fans, seeing increased in value year after year a prized collector's item.

The LP (or LP, as popularized) was an acetate disc rotating at 33 revolutions per minute. Until then, music players can only run one at 45 rpm. Here we leave an interesting video of how to create these vinyl records.

What are the stalagmites and stalactites?

This is one of the questions I was in doubt for long, it could not be differentiated by their names, but here goes.

The most common is to find within of the caves, because there is lots of moisture and water that seeps through the land that lies on top of these caves. When entering the water evaporates or falls, but the water carrying minerals such as calcium carbonate , they accumulate slowly. This mineral remains even when the water evaporates and forms a column.

calcite columns which grow from the roof down are called stalactites , those that grow from the ground up are stalagmites.
The stalagmites are usually wider than the stalactites, and the far less pointed. They have a huge variety of forms which are the result various factors such as speed and height drip of falling drops, evaporation, etc..
Sometimes the two columns grow while touching each other and form one. Video

What is the world's largest desert? How

As we know, the desert is a geographic area whose annual rainfall are less than 25 cm (10 inches) annually. Deserts seem to areas where there is life, whether it is a set of dunes, sand everywhere, high temperatures and wind storms. However, the reality is that deserts are home to countless creatures and plants themselves. There are birds, reptiles, spiders and scorpions in the desert, also some species of felines and other mammals that have adapted, including human ethnicities.

Generally, life in the desert takes place at night when temperatures drop.

The Sahara Desert is the largest whole world (9,000,000 km2 or 3,500,000 miles square) is located in northern Africa and has over 2.5 million years

Following the mass inconceivable Sahara Desert, Africa is divided into two regions: above or that is part of the Sahara, and the rest of southern Africa the desert. West Sahara is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean , and east by the Red Sea ; to her north, the Atlas mountains and the Mediterranean .

It covers the territory of the following countries: Algeria, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Nigeria, Libya, Egypt and Chad .

Contrary to popular belief that the Sahara desert is just made from sand, the truth is that it is composed of 70% gravel plains, sand dunes, while the remaining 30% is Arena. Sahara receives

less than 3 inches. of rain in a year (7.6 cm), even in the more humid areas of the Sahara desert, it could rain twice a week, and not rain again for years.

Other information:
  • The February 18, 1979 it snowed in the Sahara Desert is the only time you have registered the fact.
